Homemade Hot Chocolate
This hot chocolate makes a perfect snack for a chilly day. It's filled with healthy fat, free of refined sugars and dairy and the optional addition of collagen peptides add some protein. The cacao powder is a source of magnesium, iron and can improve mood!
Homemade Hot Chocolate
Ingredients:
- 1/3 cup raw organic cacao powder
- 2 tbsp coconut oil
- 1/4 cup maple syrup (or less depending on how sweet you like it!)
- 2 scoops collagen peptides
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- pinch sea salt
- 1 cup water
- 2 cups almond milk or milk of choice
Instructions:
- Add water and almond milk to a pot on stove at low heat.
- Whisk in all ingredients while slowly heating.
- Once warm enough for serving I add to a blender and blend for 30-60 seconds. Another option is to simply whisk on stove stop until frothy but I find the blender makes for a creamier hot chocolate.
- Enjoy
Note: This is a rich hot chocolate. Only add 1/4 cup of raw cacao powder for a less chocolately version. You can also use cocoa powder but I prefer the raw cacao powder.
